Welcome

I'm so glad you are here!  Whether you want to start receiving my personal montly letter or you want to purchase my book "The Mad Man on a Hill"...You are in the right place.  I'm Christina Ray and it's so nice to meet you!

About Christina

I am an Oklahoma native. I grew up on a country hill in a small, rural town in Oklahoma called Kellyville. Professionally, I have served in the Tulsa area as a registered nurse for 25 years. I am married to Ryan and we live in Jenks, Oklahoma.

Christina's Monthly Letter

For as long as I can remember, I have always enjoyed writing letters. As a child, I sent letters to my great grandmother even before I could spell. I would dictate what I wanted to say to my dad, and he would write it down for me.

In April 2022, I decided to become more intentional with my letter writing and started a mailing list. I send out one personal letter a month with the hope it brings you enjoyment, encouragement, and a few laughs along the way.

From me to you, my letters are personal. I write to you as if I were writing to a member of my family. You will get to know me and my family, hear of our 'ramblings about' and things that happen day to day. Because, as we all well know, the majority of life is lived in the routine day to day.

My letters are delivered with no-strings-attached. If you would like to write me back, you are most welcome to do so, and your correspondence will be warmly received but there is no obligation to write back. Just you finding enjoyment in receiving my letters delights me beyond measure.

Featured Item

This is the first book I have written. It has been several years in the making and I am so excited to finally be able to share it with you. This is the true story of my life thus far and that of my family.  Here is a sneak peak of the  BACK COVER COPY:

The final line was crossed the moment his finger pulled the trigger. Life would not go on as it had. It would never be the same again. And for me and my family, this was a good thing.

I grew up on a country hill in Creek County, Oklahoma with a mad man—I called him Pa. He was my grandfather. I had a mad man for a grandfather. As to the extent of his madness, this I would not fully comprehend until I was an adult and looking back on those years living up on the hill.

But this story is about much more than just the mad man on the hill. This story is about all the vivid characters that made up my family and about growing up country in a small, rural town in Oklahoma. It is equal parts hilarity and heartbreak.

In this story, we will walk the country roads, sit at the bar in Grandma Margaret’s kitchen for some sugar pies, battle it out with snakes, and go to bed to the lullaby of the bullfrogs down at the pond. Your belly will be sore from laughing at all the funny parts, while your heart will be squeezed by the harder aspects of my story.

I put my family story down on paper because I believe it is a story worth telling, and I enjoy telling a good story. It delights me to think that others too may find enjoyment in hearing my story. If anything is gleaned from its telling, I hope it is a hearty helping of laughter—with full permission granted to even appreciate the humor found within the hard parts too.

So, come on out to the country with me. Pull up a porch chair, fix yourself a tall, cold glass of sweet iced tea, and let me tell you a true story.

Welcome to Christina's General Store

Wherever Ryan and I travel, I am always so excited when I find a general store or local shop that has unique merchandise from that area. I wanted you to have the same experience when you visit my website. So welcome to my general store!

This is a new endeavor for me, so I am going to take it slow and be thoughtful about each item I place on the shelf. For now, you will find my book and my beloved homemade dish cloths. I make the dish cloths myself and have been using them for years. Once you try them, you will never want to use anything else.

Here on the shelves of my general store, I hope to share a little piece of my corner of the world by offering unique Oklahoma-inspired items as well as items inspired from my book and my mailing list. So make sure to check back periodically and see what turns up here. Happy shopping!
